Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

 

 

The Business Development Director, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Business Development, is responsible for executing Connections’ growth strategy by identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new market opportunities. This role manages day-to-day business development activities, leads a team of Business Development Associates, and supports strategic initiatives that drive sustainable expansion through partnerships, RFPs, and other growth channels.

 

  • Growth Opportunity Execution: Identify, evaluate, and execute growth opportunities including RFPs, partnerships, joint ventures, and new market entries, ensuring alignment with Connections’ strategic goals.
  • Proposal and RFP Management: Lead the development and submission of high-quality proposals and responses to RFPs, coordinating cross-functional input and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage, mentor, and develop Business Development Associate(s) to support growth objectives, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with key external partners, stakeholders, and potential clients to support expansion efforts and enhance Connections’ market position.
  • Financial Analysis Support: Collaborate with finance teams to support economic analysis and business case development for new partnerships and contracts.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with operational, clinical, legal, and finance teams to ensure seamless planning and execution of growth initiatives.
  • Market Research and Intelligence: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategy and identify emerging opportunities or risks.
  • Business Development Materials: Oversee the creation and refinement of proposals, presentations, marketing materials, and other tools to effectively communicate Connections’ value proposition.
  • CRM and Tools Management: Support the adoption and use of business development tools, such as CRM systems and analytics platforms, ensuring accurate tracking of opportunities and outcomes.
  • Budget Management Support: Assist in planning and tracking business development budgets, ensuring activities are aligned with financial targets and constraints.
  • Performance Reporting: Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and key performance indicators to inform leadership decision-making.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, strategy, sales, or partnership roles, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity
  • Familiarity with healthcare, behavioral health, or related markets preferred
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing staff to achieve team goals
  • Ability to conduct financial analysis, assess market opportunities, and develop business cases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing proposals, presentations, and partner-facing materials
  • Full understanding of Medicaid and publicly funded delivery systems
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel as required to support business development efforts
  • Experience leading teams, and high visibility initiatives reporting to executive leadership team
